KHAR: The authorities here on Friday sealed 10 unregistered private laboratories, which were allegedly operating illegally.
Assistant commissioner Anwarul Haq told mediapersons here that these laboratories, located in the medicine market outside the district headquarters hospital, Khar, were sealed during an action jointly conducted by the district administration and the local health department.
He said that the action was taken after owners of the laboratories failed to produce any sort of documents which were required for operating such facilities.
Mr Haq said that the health department had issued notices to the owners of all private laboratories and X-ray outlets to produce valid documents for operating their business a few months ago.
However, according to the official the owners of about 10 private laboratories even did not reply the notices.
He said that the district administration and health department would take more such steps to discourage unregistered and illegal health outlets in the region.
Soon after the action, the owners of all private laboratories, X-ray plants and medical stores of the market went on a shutter down strike. They said that the strike would continue till reopening of the sealed outlets.
