SAHIWAL: Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) claimed on Monday to have retrieved 1,186 kanal agricultural land valuing Rs321.5 million from 31 grabbers in the district.
ACE Regional Director Shafqatullah told Dawn that the land belonged to irrigation department and had been illegally occupied for the last five to seven years.
It was learnt that the irrigation land was retrieved from four different villages including Chak Nos – 100/WM, 101/6A-R, 102/6A-R and 103/7-R.
The retrieved land was handed over to the irrigation SDO. Those, who had occupied state land, included Abdul Aziz, Ghuam Rasool, Zulfikar, Muhammad Maqbool, Allah Dita, Shahid Pervaiz, Muhaamad Yaqoob, Pir Jameel and Touqeer Ahmed.
RAIL TRAFFIC: A trailer stuck at Lahore-Multan up and down railway tracks while crossing a truck near Harrapa Bypass on Monday noon.
Two young drivers were on a 18-wheel trailer on Lahore-Multan Motorway when during crossing a truck a driver lost control over the vehicle and it stuck in the middle of railway track running across the motorway. The railway administration was informed which stopped trains on the route. Harappa police said they took drivers into custody. The track was cleared after an hour.
