LARKANA: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) on Monday conducted raids on the offices of executive engineer of irrigation Northern Dadu Canal and district health department on Monday and seized relevant records.
ACE circle officer Hidayatullah Channa said that the raid on executive engineer’s office was carried out on the directive of Jam Zafarullah Dharejo, deputy director ACE Larkana, to probe allegations of misappropriation of government funds to the tune of millions of rupees.
The funds were meant for the construction of rehabilitation of cross regulators on Warah Branch and head regulators, stone-pitching and reinforcement of embankments along Dadu Canal and different other constructions, he said.
The raid on the district health office was carried out and budget record for 2018-19 was seized after ACE deputy director Jam Zaffarullah Dharejo received a tip-off about large-scale misappropriation of funds.
Mr Dharejo told Dawn that the probe body had received information about misappropriation of Rs53,600,000 (53.6m) at the office. The accounts officer escaped when he saw the ACE team coming, he said, adding the officer would surrender to the probe body on Tuesday.
