ACE registers case against Minchinabad AC


BAHAWALNAGAR: After an initial inquiry, the Anti-Corruption Establishment has registered a case against the Minchinabad Assistant Commissioner (AC) and registry muharrar for allegedly misappropriating government funds.
According to ACE circle and inquiry officer Abdul Qayyum, the FIR was lodged on Monday against AC Mudassir Arif Khokhar and registry muharrar Abdul Malik. He said a number of officials of the revenue department were also being questioned. He said the initial inquiry was initiated on the orders of the Bahawalpur ACE Director Imran Raza after a newspaper report.
The officer said the initial inquiry found the AC had imposed heavy fines on brick kilns, petrol pumps, overloaded trolleys and sweet shops but did not deposit the fine with the exchequer.The inquiry officer said the AC failed to present challan books numbering 224 and 341 which had 400 receipts. He said the misappropriated amount could be in millions.
The AC had earlier filed two applications with the ACE DG office for change of inquiry but his appeals were dismissed.
The DG office directed the two-member team which included Abdul Qayyum and Deputy Director Nauman to continue the investigation and complete the initial report within seven days and submit the findings to the Bahawalpur director who later gave approval for the FIR.
