Anti-Corruption recovers 1600 kanal land from illegal possession

BAHAWALPUR: Anti-Corruption has recovered 1600 kanal government land of worth more than Rs 1 billion from illegal possession and handed over to Revenue Department.

According to director Anti Corruption Imran Raza, the land situated near Hasilpur was under illegal possession of one Aashiq Khalid and a case was registered in Anti-Corruption Department against him.

While giving further details of the case, Director Anti-Corruption told that the allotment of the land was given to two persons namely Aslam Gill and Anwar Shah which was cancelled in 1968 on non-payment of the land fee.

Aashiq Khalid illegally got the land to his name despite the fact that land was under government possession since 1961. This bogus and illegal registry of the land was canceled by then District Collector Bahawalpur Imran Sikandar Baloch on 29 December 2012.

Revenue Department failed to get possession back from illegal usurper on which District Collector filed a case in the Anti-Corruption Department in 2015 against officials of Revenue Department.

Aashiq Khalid had filed an application with Director Anti-Corruption for investigating the matter.

Aashiq Khalid failed to prove legal purchase of land and could not produce bank receipts of payment. On which he agreed to give possession of the land back to government. The land was handed over to Assistant Commissioner Hasilpur Muhammad Tayyab
