BISE to probe into exam raid issue

BAHAWALNAGAR: The Bahawalpur Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education chairman, taking notice on the incident at McLeodganj examination centre, constituted a three-member inquiry committee on Tuesday which will furnish a report within three days, BISE Controller Tahir Husain Jafri said.
The Minchinabad assistant commissioner (AC) conducted a raid on an examination centre on Monday and got a security guard arrested for helping candidates with unfair means in intermediate paper.
Invigilators have rejected the incident. Examination Center Superintendent Muhammad Akhtar Saeed and Deputy Superintendent Shahzad Ahmed told Dawn that the Minchinabad AC barged into the examination hall with 25 to 30 unauthorized people just 10 minutes before the paper time was over. They said that the people accompanying the AC started taking pictures and video footage of of the room and the students. Some intruders started harassing the students. At the same time, they said, the AC started accusing the invigilating staff of letting the student cheat.
However, they said that the AC was unable to prove the charge and was even unable to catch a single student using unfair means.
