Call for checking oil theft in Karak

KARAK: District naib nazim and district president of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, Sajjad Barakwal, said on Wednesday that the oil and gas exploration companies were not using the international standard gadgets to check oil theft going on in the district.
Talking to mediapersons here, he also alleged that the companies had been violating the standard rules because of which over 10 oil wells had dried up. He said that they had demanded of the secretary petroleum during his visit to Karak district to constitute a commission to probe the reservations of the local people and give their rights to them.
Mr Barakwal said that they had conveyed to the secretary in clear terms to take steps for ensuring that the people were given their rights according to the Constitution. He alleged that a foreign oil and gas exploration company had never advertised vacant positions and recruited people from other parts of the country in violation of rules.
He said that qualified people were available in the district who should be considered for the jobs. The naib nazim said that LPG was being produced in the district and demanded that the authorised dealership should be given to the local people to provide LPG on subsidised rates. He said that they had taken up all such issues with the secretary for early resolution.
He demanded formation of a commission for redressing their reservations. He said that ADP of the district government would be approved this week.
