GUJRAT: A raiding team of the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has unearthed gas theft of Rs8 million by a CNG station and confiscated the meter.
SNGPL Regional Manager Ehsan Bhatti got information about gas theft by a CNG station near Haryiwala Chowk along GT Road bypass and constituted a team led by Deputy Chief Engineer Muhammad Ashraf.
The team raided the Five Star CNG station and detected theft and confiscated the meter that would now be sent to laboratory for further information about the volume of the gas theft. Mr Bhatti said the CNG station had stolen gas worth around Rs8 million. The exact amount of theft would be worked out after which a detection bill would be sent to the CNG station.
He said the crackdown on gas pilferage would continue in the region.
Earlier in April, the SNGPL had sealed a pottery factory after it was found involved in gas theft of Rs20 million. A case was registered against the owner of the factory by the Federal Investigation Agency’s (FIA) Gujrat police station.
