Corruption alleged in uplift schemes

MANSEHRA: The members of district council here have announced to move the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) against what they called favoritism and anomalies committed by the district nazim in execution of development schemes since inception of the present local governments in 2015.
“We have gathered documentary record and we will take it to ACE as financial corruption has been done in execution of development schemes,” Mohsin Khan, a member of the district council, claimed while talking to mediapersons here on Saturday.
Flanked by some other councillors, Mr Khan said that district nazim Sardar Said Ghulam had granted development schemes in violation of the Local Government Act 2013. “Every member of the council has an equal right in share of development funds, but to create means of embezzlement huge funds were granted on the basis of favoritism,” he added.
He alleged that anomalies were committed in execution of development schemes during last four years.
Fida Khan advocate told mediapersons that the nazim and his allies distributed development funds among themselves while other councillors were either left without schemes or given meagre share in funds.
INTERCHANGE PROJECT: The district development advisory committee (DDAC) has approved construction of an interchange in Panu Dehri area to link Hazara Motorway with Oghi, Baffa-Pakhal and Darband tehsils of the district.
“With the construction of this interchange the people of upper parts of Hazara, including Torghar and Kohistan, would be able to reach Hazara Motorway without facing any difficulty,” DDAC chairman MPA Nawabzada Fareed told mediapersons following the committee meeting here on Saturday.
The meeting was attended among others by MPA Babar Saleem, DPO Zaibullah Khan and representatives of the NHA. Mr Fareed said that with the construction of Panu Dehri interchange the distance and travel time would also be reduced for a large population.
