LAHORE: National Accountability Chairman Justice (retd) Javed Iqbal has said the countries which promote corruption under the guise of democracy can’t achieve progress. Addressing a cheques distribution ceremony here on Friday, he said the corrupt elements who became billionaires in few days after looting hard-earned money of common man should remember that everyone would have to leave this world empty-handed as coffins had no pockets.

Eliminating corruption from the country was the first priority of the bureau, the NAB chairman said, adding that the anti-graft body did not believe in any vindictive policy. He said as the bureau announced start of an inquiry after approval from the Executive Board through a press release, the same was done if the inquiry closed, through a press release after approval from the Executive Board.
