FIA seals hospital, four held

RAWALPINDI: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) anti-corruption circle on Wednesday night raided a bungalow in Bahria Town Phase 8 in which a private hospital was being operated.
Four people, including an Omani woman patient, were taken into custody while the hospital was sealed.
According to sources, an FIA team led by deputy director Mohammad Kamran and comprising inspector Nadeem Ahmed, sub-inspector Kashif Riaz, assistant sub-inspector Zubair and others conducted the raid.
The sources said the Omani woman had undergone a kidney surgery, adding it was an international racket involved in illegal transplant of kidneys.
The sources said an investigation had been launched after registration of an FIR and more raids were likely within the next a couple of days as some more private hospitals were also involved in the illegal trade of kidney transplant in Rawalpindi.
In Oct 2016, police unearthed a gang involved in an illegal kidney trade and sealed a privatehospitalin Morgah and registered a case against four doctors.
The police also recovered 24 people, including four women, who had been detained in a private building in Bahria Town by a gang. They had been brought to Rawalpindi from different areas of Punjab by the gang after luring them to provide them jobs.
