PESHAWAR: During the ongoing operation against gas theft, the taskforce of SNGPL has disconnected 489 illegal connections, removed 290 tampered meters and seized 3,150 feet illegal pipeline in different areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The raiding teams also included personnel of FIA, according to a press release issued here on Wednesday.
It was stated that during the operations in Karak, one direct bypass of plaster of Paris in Jatta Ismail and one illegal gas connection of power generation unit was disconnected. FIRs were lodged by FIA and relevant police where some accused persons were arrested.
The statement said the teams disconnected 141 illegal gas pipeline networks in Karak.
In Peshawar and surroundings, the taskforce along with FIA and local police disconnected 3,150 feet illegal pipeline networks and 489 illegal connections and 290 tampered meters from Arif Town on Charsadda Road, Afridiabad Kaga Wala, Kohat Road, Shakarpura, Landi Sarak, Urmar, Regi, Palosi, Tehkal, Dalazak road and adjacent localities.
Six FIRs were lodged in various police stations.
Meanwhile, the police also arrested several persons involved in illegal gas pipeline networks.
