Illegal Market Built On Railway Land Razed In Kohat

KOHAT: The demolition of an illegal market on the railways land in Jawaki Banda led to a brawl between special magistrate Quratul Ain Wazir and owner of the market as both produced ownership orders from court to each other.

However, the magistrate told the owner that his stay had been vacated by the Supreme Court of Pakistan and the railways had been authorised to reclaim its land.

During demolition of the market the magistrate told reporters that the price of the land was more than Rs4 million and the structure had been erected illegally.

Later, an excavator was called in which leveled the market in the presence of police. The five-hour-long exercise was supervised by the magistrate.

Ms Wazir said all encroachments on the railways land would be removed.

To a question, she said orchards on the government land near Jhandi Station and Bannu bypass would also be removed and warned the people not to construct structures on the railways property.
