‘Chairman of Transparency International Pakistan (TIP) Syed Adil Gilani has served a legal notice on a talk show host of a private television channel for uttering derogatory remarks about TIP and its chairman and demanded an unconditional apology. ’
The notice said a lawsuit seeking damages worth Rs500 million would be filed against the host and the channel if no apology was tendered.
In the notice served through his lawyer, Mr Gilani said the manner in which the host conducted his programme underlined the wrongdoing indulged in by media personnel.
He alleged that host Mubashar Luqman of Express channel had levelled false allegations against TIP in his programme `Point Blank` on Oct 27 thinking that he would get away with his `nefarious` and `uncalled for` remarks. The managing director of the channel was also asked to tender an unconditional apology.

NICL scam: Senate body demands land vendors' names on ECL
ISLAMABAD: A Senate panel on Wednesday directed the Commerce Ministry to request the Interior Ministry to place the names of those vendors on Exit Control List (ECL), besides freezing their bank accounts, who sold their property to National Insurance Corporation Limited (NICL).
The panel, comprising Senators Haroon Akhtar, Ishaq Dar, Safdar Abbasi and Sameen Siddiqui, also severely chastised the Commerce Ministry's team, headed by Additional Secretary Khawaja Naeem, for not implementing the instructions of the Senate in letter and spirit. NICL Chairman, on forced leave, Ayaz Niazi and Board of Directors are facing criminal charges for alleged flawed property deals

‘Elimination of corruption more important than ever now’
KARACHI: Transparency International Pakistan Chairman Syed Adil Gilani has said that setting up illegal kachchi abadis on the riverbed and storing wood logs after cutting forests had caused the recent destructive floods.
The losses had been estimated at around $ 43 billion and it was the result of corruption, he said. If there had been no corruption, the water works would have been done properly, he said. He expressed these views in a meeting of the Shura Hamdard held recently at a hotel. The theme was “Importance of big dams in the perspective of recent disastrous flood and rains”. On 18th February 2010 an Annual Partners Meeting was held at Hotel Al Harmain Tower Karachi. It was attended by six Civil Society Organizations which had signed Memorandum of Understanding with Transparency International Pakistan during the last year. On 6th April 2009 a workshop was arranged at Kuchlak Welfare Society, Quetta for raising awareness about corruption and its evil effect on society. Volunteers and associated members of this NGO attended it. Ms. N.A. Mirza and Mr. Naseem Ahmed Siddiqui conducted the workshop. It was well attended. 98% of the participants were females. A lively question answer session took place. The participants had a lot of ideas. They were amazed at the topic being discussed as this was totally a new field for them and they had not heard of any organization working on creating awareness on Corruption and Bribery. At the end of the session there was a lot of discussion taking place amongst them and the resolves to spread this message among the massesNews Paper
27th March 2009 a visit to Badin was made to conduct a workshop at Fundamental Human Rights and Rural Development Association. Volunteers and associated members of this NGO attended it. Dr. N.I. Khowaja and Ms. N.A. Mirza conducted the workshop. It was well received by the audience
who wholeheartedly participated in it. A lot of ideas were floated to counter corruption and bribery. The participants appreciated the initiative of TI-P and welcomed it as the need of the hour.News Paper
