NAB arrests absconder


PESHAWAR: The National Accountability Bureau, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, has arrested an absconder, Syed Noor Habib, who is accused of looting people in the garb of Islamic mode of financing.
An accountability court headed by judge Muneera Abbasi remanded the accused to the custody of NAB for 14 days.
NAB prosecutor Roohullah Jan told the court that the accused looted around Rs48.784 million from innocent people fraudulently in the garb of Mudaraba.
He said an inquiry revealed that the accused along with his accomplices had invited people to invest money in his fake company, Al-Barakah Investment Company, and carried out import and export of packed milk, fabrics, refrigerators, sewing machines, generators, vehicles turbines and engines.
The prosecutor said the accused had promised investors huge profit and paid it for after few months before he not only halted payments and also refused to return the invested money, and disappeared. He said the NAB, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, had received claims up to Rs48.784 million against the accused.
The prosecutor said the NAB had already arrested two other accused.
