NAB cannot prolong proceedings against corrupt elements

The Nation

Chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB), Justice retired Javed Iqbal Tuesday said that they have full respect for everyone including politicians, but cannot allow an indefinite delay in proceedings against corrupt elements.
The NAB chief expressed these views while reviewing the performance of NAB Balochistan at Quetta office. He said that all those involved in corruption are the ‘enemy of the state’ and action will be taken against them.
He said that corruption has increased debts upto 90 billion dollars and now the next five generations will be paying the debts.
He further said that NAB is playing its full role to act against corrupt elements and taking concrete measures to prevent corruption in all development projects.
“NAB does not look at the face of the suspect, and instead focuses on the case and allegations against them,” he said, adding that the anti-graft body was performing its duties according to the law to eradicate corruption.
He said the main purpose of NAB is not only to punish corrupt elements but also recover the looted money so ongoing development projects could be completed.
Iqbal instructed to decide all mega corruption and other cases within the determined time, and directed to improve performance of NAB Balochistan.
He vowed the policy of zero tolerance against corruption and said that they will continue following the policy of ‘accountability for all’ and serve the nation.
