Lahore – The Punjab Healthcare Commission (PHC) has imposed a fine of Rs500,000 on a private hospital for showing negligence, said a press release on Thursday.
A complainant, Mumtaz Ali, suffering from a liver ailment, had submitted an application to the PHC, alleging he had got his CT Scan and X-ray reports from the Shifa International Hospital of Faisalabad. He added on the basis of the results of these reports, his doctor started his treatment and advised liver transplant. “However, when more tests were carried out, results of the hospital appeared to be dubious, and of another patient,” he alleged.
The investigation and experts’ opinion of the Punjab Healthcare Commission had found Mumtaz’s was right and the private hospital staff showed negligence. The commission imposed a fine of Rs500,000 on the hospital for failing to formulate standard operating procedures (SOPs) for handing over test reports to patients, handover correct films and report of the CT scan and implement minimum service delivery standards (MSDS).
