ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday observed that corrupt people have digested the money after looting the country while the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) is not laying hand on influential people due to fear as Allah would hold NAB accountable for this policy. The court raised a question if there is anyone who would undertake audit of the NAB.
The court took strong exception to non-arrest of Mohsin Habib Warraich, the central figure in the mega corruption case of Rs420 million in the National Insurance Company Limited (NICL) and summoned Mohsin Habib Warraich and NAB prosecutor general on the next date of hearing. A three-member bench of the apex court headed by Justice Gulzar Ahmed resumed hearing into Rs420 million corruption case in National Insurance Company Limited (NICL).
During the hearing, the court asked as to why Mohsin Habib Warraich had not yet been arrested. Justice Gulzar Ahmed observed that it’s a big case while the central figure in the scam is moving scot-free.
NAB prosecutor, however, informed the court that Mr. Warraich was summoned by the anti-graft body at which Justice Gulzar Ahmed said that the anti-graft body could have served the accused with tea and cakes.
The NAB prosecutor, however, recalled that the court had restrained the Bureau from arresting Mohsin Habib Warraich.
