ABOUT TI-PAKISTAN

TI-Pakistan is a National Chapter of Transparency International, a global organization that is spearheading a world-wide anti-corruption movement.

Transparency International (TI) today is the largest anti-corruption network acting globally . TI is an intenational Non-political,Non-partisan,Non-profit,Non Governmental Organization headquatered in Berlin ,Germany ,with nearly 90 National Chapters (NCs) around the globe.

TI is dedicated primarily to fighting "grand corruption in international business transactions",but its National Chapters have a high degree of independence and design their own program of action reflecting the particular manifestation of corruption in their country.

Introduction to TI-Pakistan
Transparency International - Pakistan was recognized in February 2001.It has been accredited as full National Chapter by Transparency International Berlin on 25 October 2005.The original promoters were a group of dedicated professionals who felt that this was the right time to take up the challenge and assist the new Government in its initiative and stated policy of combating corruption in all spheres of the public and private sectors. The need for this was simple.

Status
Applied for registration as an NGO under the Pakistan Trust Act 1882.

Function
A Non-Profit, Non-Partisan, Non-Political Organization to Fight Corruption at the National level.

History

In January and February of 2001 formal Agreements were signed between Transparency International - Secretariat and the representative Promoters of the Lahore and Karachi chapters.

This agreement between TI-S and the Promoters of TI-Pakistan confirms the establishment of Transparency International - Pakistan, and allows TI-Pakistan (in formation) to act as a National Chapter under basic guidelines established by TI-S, in that, the National Chapter must operate as a Non-Profit, Non-Partisan, Non-Political Organization.
