Public Procurement

Transparency International-Pakistan has signed 16 MoUs with different government organizations. These companies are listed bellow:

  5. National Bank of Pakistan
  6. Port Qasim Authority
  7. Trading Corporation of Pakistan
  8. Pakistan International Airlines Corporation (PIA)
  9. Pakistan Steel Mills
  10. Pakistan Telecommunications Company Ltd (PTCL)
  11. Central Board of Revenue
  12. Ministry of Irrigation & Power
  13. Department of Agriculture
  14. Pakistan State Oil (PSO)
  15. Trade Development Authority of Pakistan (TDAP)
  16. State Life Insurance Corporation (SLIC)
Transparency International-Pakistan not only monitors the organizations it has signed MoUs with but also all other government organizations. It scrutinizes their advertisements to ensure that they are following the Public Procurement Rules 2004 and that their dealings are transparent.

To help organizations in implementing the Public Procurement Rules, workshops and seminars are conducted to train their personnel in processing transparent procurements and they are followed-up to note compliance.

Transparency International-Pakistan has also met with the Chief Minster of Punjab, Mr. Shahbaz Sharif, to discuss the Punjab Public Procurement Rules and provided him with suggestions for amendments. As a result the Punjab government has adopted the Public Procurement Rules 2004 for all their procurements.

The Federal Public Procurement Rules 2004 was implemented in June 2004 and the Sindh Public Procurement Rules 2006 was implemented in November 2004. Transparency International-Pakistan played a pivotal role in having these PPRs implemented.

Future Agenda
Transparency International-Pakistan strives to sign more MoUs with public organizations and hold workshops/seminars for their guidance.





Private Sector

Transparency International-Pakistan has signed a MoU with BASF Company Ltd. A seminar was held in collaboration with BASF and at the end of the seminar a committee was formed with the objective to incorporate other private sectors organizations to follow anti bribery practices in their daily business activities.

Workshops/Seminars have been conducted to raise awareness about the evil of corruption in the private sector. Seminars/Workshops are organized on regular basis.

Future Agenda

TI-P will encourage more private companies to adopt TI’s policies for curbing bribery in their daily business activities. To sign MoUs with private companies and organize training workshops to help them implement TI’s "Business Principles for Countering Bribery."




Civil Society Organizations

In order to propagate its message TI-P has contacted several Civil Society Organizations in Pakistan. MoUs have been signed with six CSOs and trainings have been provided on advocacy techniques and awareness skills to monitor corruption. These CSOs are working in their area of influence and target the population of that region.

To date two Civil Society Organizations have come on board from Sindh, two from Punjab and one each from Balochistan and North West Frontier Province.

Workshops and Kutcherys are held to create awareness on the evils of corruption.

Future Agenda
Transparency International-Pakistan is working to increase its CSO membership. Further training and feedback sessions are also planned.




Media & Advocacy

Every year Transparency International-Pakistan publishes/releases reports, such as "Corruption Perception Index", "Global Corruption Report", "National Corruption Perception Survey" and "Transparency International Global Corruption Barometer."

Programs held by TI-P are covered by large numbers of electronic and print media. Besides this, the Chairman of TI-P was also interviewed by various media personals, both national and international.

Transparency International-Pakistan is also invited to various workshops and contacted by national and international agencies to discuss about the status of corruption in Pakistan.

Future Agenda
Transparency International-Pakistan will continue to publish its yearly reports and to keep itself in the media limelight so it can create awareness on the evils of corruption.
