RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) on Wednesday demolished one head office and sealed four site offices of illegal housing schemes during its ongoing operation.
RDA spokesman Mohammad Irfan said that head office of Margalla Hills Enclave Private Limited, located at Mouza Mohra Shah Wali on GT Road near Taxila, was demolished and two of its site offices were sealed. One booking office of Faisal Town/Iqbal Town at Anwaar Chowk in Wah Cantonment and one booking office of Wah Enclave Residencia were also sealed.
He said that development work was stopped on illegal Taxila Scheme-III housing project.
Mr Irfan said that under Punjab Private Housing Schemes and Land Subdivision Rules 2010 notices were being issued to the owners of illegal housing schemes.
The RDA staff, including deputy director planning, superintendent scheme, scheme inspector and others, with the assistance of police carried out the operation in Wah Cantt near Taxila.
The owners of these properties had opened site offices of illegal housing schemes in violation of the land subdivision rules.
The authority has advised general public not to make any investment in any illegal housing scheme, otherwise they themselves would be responsible for losses. It also urged the Islamabad Electric Supply Company, Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited and PTCL not to extend services to the illegal housing schemes.
Mr Irfan said that RDA director general had asked the relevant directorate to take strict action against development of illegal housing schemes and construction of their booking and site offices.
