A ‘KUTCHERY’ (communal gathering) was held in Haji Hashim Khaskheli Goth, district Badin, on 14th October 2009 in collaboration with the Fundamental Human Rights and Rural Development Association ‘FHRRDA’. It was held in a villager’s house. The participants numbering approximately 80 were from 9 villages. Both men and women attended. A lot of the female participants brought their young children with them as they could not leave then at home. Mr. H. Masorhi of FHRRDA gave an introduction and Ms. Mirza of TIP-ALAC gave a short introduction of Transparency International’s workings. She also gave special emphasis on ALAC. The participants were enthusiastic and made a lot of queries. Two cases of corruption were discussed. One was regarding the National Bank of Pakistan, which was giving Agriculture Loans to farmers in Badin, after taking bribe. The other involved the Railway Department which was not paying salary according to their rules.
