The Sixth Youth in Governance Workshop was held on the 7th and 8th of April, 2009 was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Masoom Yasinzai Vice Chancellor University Of Balochistan at the Auditorium of the University Law College, Quetta. The participants of the workshop were the students from the University of Balochistan, University Law College, Balochistan University of Information & technology, AL-Hamd University & Gov. Girls Degree College, Quetta. Gender equality was kept in mind while inviting students along with the coordinators from various institutions and faculties of the University of Balochistan. A total of about two hundred students participated in the workshop. Guests from educational institutions, media and local NGOS` also participated in the workshop.
The two-day workshop had three sessions each on the first and second day for which Advocate General Balochistan, Principal Law College, Vice Principal Law College, Deans of various faculties and Chairpersons of departments participated as speakers and chairpersons on the subjects of Good Governance and rule of law, Role of Youth in Nation Building, Role of Civil society in Curbing Corruption & Self Analysis- 1st step in eradicating corruption.
At the end of the workshop, a speaker from each institution as well as each of the faculties of University of Balochistan was given 5 minutes to present his/her views on matters relating to the topics discussed. The session gave the students attending the workshop a chance to display their knowledge on the subject. It was obvious from their speeches that they had participated very actively throughout the workshop. The speeches of the students were very much appreciated by the guests and speakers and the best three speakers were awarded prizes for their encouragement.
