“Administrative secretaries need to take steps to strengthen monitoring and vigilance of their department, eradicate corruption and maintain transparency,” said Sindh Chief Secretary (CS) Mumtaz Ali Shah on Wednesday.
CS Mumtaz expressed these views while presiding over an introductory meeting with additional chief secretaries of the Sindh government. He directed the administrative secretaries to perform their duties with coordinated efforts and teamwork in order to improve service delivery in accordance with good governance.
Mumtaz Shah categorically noted that there could be no compromise with corruption. He said that he would not like to receive a complaint from any secretary regarding corruption in his office. “The secretary should himself control the concerned department and its all employees, be it the peons or the top level officials,” he said. Shah added that the secretary would be held responsible for malpractice and corruption.
The meeting was attended by the Planning & Development Board Chairman Muhammad Waseem, additional chief secretaries and secretaries of all departments.
Earlier, CS Mumtaz Ali Shah visited the Special Education and Rehabilitation Complex of Sindh Government at Gulistan-e-Jouhar. After taking a visit of the vocational training workshops and classes, he advised the Special Education secretary to provide more facilities to the special students. CS Shah vowed that the Sindh government would make all possible efforts in order to promote and develop the field of special education. During his visit, CS Shah distributed food items and beverages to special children. Later, CS Mumtaz visited the shrine of Hazrat Abdullah Shah Ghazi and offered Fateha there.
