LAKKI MARWAT: The authorities have sealed two medical laboratories in Naurang town after receiving complaints that the facilities are being run by unqualified staff.
The action was initiated on the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Jahangir Azam Wazir. A team led by additional assistant commissioner visited the medical laboratories and outlets to check implementation of relevant laws by owners.
The members of the team found two laboratories being run by unqualified staff. They sealed the laboratories on the spot. The assistant commissioner said that no one would be allowed to run business in violation of laws.
He said that the violators of the laws would face stern action. He said that laws on environment would be implemented in letter and spirit.
ARRESTED: Police claimed to have arrested more than 12 criminals and drug traffickers and recovered illicit weapons and contrabands from them during a five-day operation.
An official said on Wednesday that the operation was launched on the directives of district police officer ahead of Muharram to maintain peace during the month of mourning.
He said that during the five-day operation policemen arrested 17 proclaimed offenders and three drug peddlers. He added that the law enforcers also checked schools, colleges and important installations for security arrangements and record of tenants in rented houses.
He said that police seized an assault rifle, a shotgun, 19 pistols, 426 bullets and 1,879 grams of hashish from anti-social elements and registered cases against them.
The official said that the traffic wardens issued tickets to transporters and motorists on violation of law and imposed a fine of Rs192,100 on them.
